Together with the development of other economic sectors of the province,  trade sector has also gained remarkable results. Since the renovation policy was issued,  the Trade and Service branch has considerably contributed to the provincial economic growth,  stimulated production growth and re-allocation of social labour,  boosted the process of economic structure shifting towards industrialization and modernization,  created more jobs,  improved people’ s lives and changed the socio-economic surface.
Market and commercial activities develop excitingly and quantity of goods in circulation is increasing every with rather high speed. Goods are more and more various and diverse with incessantly improved quality to meet basic demand for production and contribute an important role in the development and economic structure shifting and improvement of local people’ s lives.
Policies and mechanisms on trade and tourism investment and development have been applied in order to attract investment into the provincial area,  especially investment in two centers Vi Thanh town and Nga Bay town. Since Vi Thanh Coopmart put into operation and a market system formed,  they have remarkably contributed to the growth rate of this area. Total earnings from retail sales are about VND 4, 883 trillion.
Post and telecommunication activities has developed greatly and there are 129, 101 telephone subscribers at present   (of which mobile-phone subscribers are 75, 773,  and desk-phone subscribers are 53, 328)  ,  with a density of about 21.4 telephones per 100 people.
Transportation service activities continue to develop rather well and transportation infrastructure is increasingly being completed and comprehensive to meet the demand for travel of local people and to serve the investment drawing activities and economic structure shifting. It is estimated that there are about 50.5 million passengers and 4.3 million tons of goods transported in a year.
In recent time,  the market prices have been quite stable and there have been no big fluctuations of supply,  demand and partial increase in price that may have influence on local production and people’ s lives.
State administration on trade has been basically renovated in terms of functions,  tasks and organization. Legal system is gradually formed so as to match with the new mechanism and create a clear way for goods and service circulation.
On the market,  trade and service activities continue to be arranged stably and the situation of struggling,  trade cheating and illegal business has been controlled and decreased gradually over the past years.
